Description

1 and 2 Albert Place are a pair of semi-detached houses built in the early 19th century. The houses feature rendered solid front walls with masonry markings, while the right-hand gable wall is hung with asbestos slates. The roofs are slated, with No 1 also covered in asbestos slates. Each house has a red brick chimney at the gable ends, with No 2 having five old chimney pots.

The buildings are three storeys tall with garrets and share a three-window front, although the middle window is blind. The paired doorways are set within a single central opening that has a flattened elliptical arch. No 1 has a six-panelled door, where the top two panels are glazed and the bottom two are flush. No 2 features a late 20th-century wooden door with a built-in fanlight. Between the doors, there is a fluted half-column adorned with foliage-like sprays around plain, semi-circular fanlights.

The upper storey windows have eight-paned sashes, while the shorter third-storey windows only have four panes in the upper sash. A bracketed wooden eaves cornice runs along the top, and there is a centrally placed dormer with a curved top that is shared by both houses, featuring two pairs of eight-paned sashes. The rear wall, which is visible from Mill Head, has third-storey barred sashes that match those at the front, along with one at the left end of the second storey. Additionally, in the second bay from the left on the second storey, there is an old projecting weather-boarded closet with a sash window on the left side, where the upper sash has six panes. The interiors have not been inspected.
