Description
The Ancient Mariner Restaurant, located at Nos. 10 and 11 on Fore Street in Ilfracombe, is a building that was formerly two cottages. It likely dates from the 18th century and has been altered over time. The exterior features painted plaster and a Welsh slate roof, with two storeys and three windows. The central entrance is round-arched and has a blind fanlight above it. To the left, there is an early 19th-century shopfront with fluted pilasters flanking a half-glazed entrance door and window, topped with an entablature that has a projecting cornice above. The glazing in this area has been altered. To the right of the entrance, there is another half-glazed door flanked by two-light windows. The first floor has sash windows and a sliding casement to the right. The interior has not been inspected. All the listed buildings on Fore Street are part of a group.
