Description

Nos. 48, 49, and 50 on Bridge Street are cottages that have been converted into a shop and dwellings. They date from the mid-18th century or earlier and are constructed of brick with a hipped Welsh slate roof and two brick ridge stacks. The buildings are two storeys high and feature a three-window range with late 19th-century 6/6 sash windows, along with a blind opening to the right, all set under segmental arches. The eaves are adorned with brick modillion, and there are four 19th-century gable dormers with casements and slate-hung sides.

The entrance to the left, which belongs to No. 50, has a six-moulded-panel door set in an earlier moulded frame. It is flanked by two late 19th-century 6/6 sash windows under segmental arches. There is also an early 20th-century glazed and panelled door beneath a moulded wood pediment hood supported by panelled pilasters. A storey band runs across the facade, with a 20th-century 6/6 sash window and a blind opening on either side of the modern door, both under segmental arches and beneath an altered wood flat hood on grooved pilasters. To the right, there is a canted return featuring a 20th-century 6/6 sash window above a modern door in an altered opening.

Inside, the cottages retain exposed ceiling beams and a massive stack base.
