Description
56 and 56A Bridge Street are a 17th-century house, later divided into two cottages. The building has undergone 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of timber frame and plaster with a Welsh slate roof, and features a brick stack at the rear. The house is two storeys and an attic, with a two-window front. It has late 19th-century 3/3 sash windows under a continuous wooden hood. The ground floor is brick, with 20th-century entrances flanking two late 19th-century 3/3 casements. The right returned side has 20th-century casements, alongside exposed arched collar-braces and massive purlins. A timber-frame and brick wing extends to the rear. The left returned side displays a timber-framed gable. The interiors were not inspected.
