Description
No. 78 Bridge Street is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier. It features a roughcast exterior with a timber frame, plaster, and brick infill. The roof is gabled and covered with plain tiles, while a rubble lateral stack with a brick chimney is located on the right side. The building has two storeys and a single-window range, which includes a 19th-century two-light casement window. The roof truss jetties out on simple brackets. On the ground floor, there is a fixed light window. The left side of the building has a 19th-century plank door with a light above it, and a 20th-century battened plank door beneath a simple hood supported by plain pilasters. There are also two-light casements and a passing-brace on this side. The right side features a passing-brace and has undergone some 20th-century repairs. Notably, the roof leans forward at a remarkable angle. The interior has not been inspected.
