Description
Barn Cottage is a cottage dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It features a timber frame that is exposed with brick infill, the brick on the right side was once colourwashed. The roof is plain tiled and the building has a T-shaped plan. There is a gable end bay cross wing that projects to the left, adorned with scalloped bargeboards. To the right, there is a 19th-century end stack with a corbelled top, and a rebuilt side stack to the left that has offsets and a corbelled top. The cross wing has two storeys, while the right side has one storey and an attic, which is topped with a late 19th or early 20th-century gabled leaded casement dormer. Each floor of the cross wing features a three-light leaded window, and there is a four-light window on the ground floor to the right. The first floor has jowled angle posts and a crown post at the left end. There is a door located on the left-hand return front. To the right, there is a brick wing that is set back and has a hip and gablet roof.
