Description
The Old Post Office is a cottage dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with later alterations from the 19th century and additions from the 20th century at the rear. It features a timber frame with painted brick nogging and plain tile roofs. The building has a baffle-entry plan consisting of three framed bays, with a flush gabled cross-wing to the left. It is one storey high with an attic and has two 19th-century gabled half-dormers on the right, which contain 3-light leaded casements. A brick stack is located behind the ridge to the right of the center. The framing consists of square panels, three from the sole-plate to the wall-plate. The flush cross-wing on the left has planted timbers over a moulded bressumer and a 2-light leaded casement, along with three windows on the ground floor that include 2- and 3-light leaded casements. There is a 20th-century timber framed gabled porch off-centre to the right, featuring a boarded door. Inside, the cottage is noted for its timber framed cross-walls, and the rest of the interior is likely to be of interest.
