Description
Coton Farmhouse is a late 17th-century farmhouse with later alterations and additions, located in Berrington. The building is constructed of red brick, with some areas rendered, and features a plain tile roof that has catslides over outshuts at the rear. It has a baffle-entry L-plan design, with two storeys and an attic. The facade includes plat bands, parapeted gable ends, a central brick ridge stack, and an integral brick end stack on the rear wing. The house has three bays, with late 19th-century wooden cross-casements. The former central door has been replaced with a wooden cross-casement, and the entrance is now located at the rear. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is reported to contain a large open fireplace and 17th-century boarded doors. The house was first recorded in 1699 as The Cotons, and the kitchen is believed to date from around 1800.
