Description
Cound Arbour Bridge is a bridge dated 1797, constructed of painted cast iron with grey sandstone ashlar abutments. It features a single elliptical span supported by four ribs, with panelled and circular-pierced spandrels. The keystone is marked with "CAST/AT COALBROOK/DALE/1797." The bridge has curved abutments with square end piers and a cast iron Gothic balustrade that includes curved stanchions and a moulded handrail. It spans the Cound Brook. The 18th-century balustrade is now set within a low 20th-century concrete parapet, likely replacing an earlier cast iron or sandstone one. The bridge is also known as Church Bridge.
