Description
This building is a cottage located in Upper Cound, dating from the mid- to late 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and late 19th centuries. It features a timber frame with painted brick nogging set on a brick plinth, and parts have been rebuilt and extended in painted brick. The roof is covered with 20th-century concrete tiles.
The cottage consists of two framed bays and has one storey plus an attic. Architectural details include a plinth, a dentil brick eaves cornice, and a crow-stepped parapeted gable end on the left side. There are integral brick end stacks and two gabled eaves dormers that contain 2-light casements. The front has two windows featuring 20th-century three-light casements with louvred shutters. The central entrance is a 20th-century boarded door set within a brick porch that has a round arch. To the left, there is a 20th-century one-storey lean-to addition with a 2-light casement window at the front.
At the rear, the cottage displays exposed timber framing and a gabled eaves dormer. Inside, there are chamfered and stopped beams and joists, a chamfered fireplace lintel, and a timber-framed cross-wall.
