Description

Drover's Cottage is a house that has now been divided, likely dating from the 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the mid- to late 19th century. It features a timber frame that has been partly rebuilt and possibly refaced in rendered and painted brick, with painted imitation framing, and has plain tile roofs. The building is arranged in a U-plan, with a central hall range consisting of probably two framed bays and flanking gabled cross-wings, also probably two framed bays, projecting to the northwest.

The northwest front has a dentil brick eaves cornice on the hall range, along with a central gabled eaves dormer that contains a two-light wooden casement. There are large brick ridge stacks, with one stack to the left just off-centre to the right, featuring paired star-shaped shafts and oversailing tops, as well as an integral brick lateral stack on the right-hand cross-wing. The hall range includes a 19th-century two-light segmental-headed wooden casement on the left and a 19th-century three-light wooden casement on the right. The left-hand cross-wing has a 20th-century three-light wooden casement on each floor, while the gabled cross-wing to the right features a first-floor 20th-century two-light wooden casement, two glazed doors, and a 20th-century lean-to porch with casements flanking a central half-glazed door. There is also a gabled eaves dormer and porch to No. 26 at the rear.

Inside, the cottage has collar and tie-beam roof trusses, chamfered purlins, and chamfered beams, joists, and wall-plate.
