Description

This is a cottage located at Norton Cross Roads, dating from the late 17th century, with a late 19th-century addition. It features a timber frame with painted brick nogging, and the eastern side is rendered. The cottage has a thatched roof and consists of two framed bays, with one storey and an attic. There is a central eyebrow eaves dormer that contains a two-light wooden casement window from the 19th century, and an integral brick stack on the left side. The framing includes square panels, which were likely originally three high from the sole-plate to the wall-plate but have been replaced with brickwork, except for the panels below the eaves. The front has two windows, each with two-light diamond-leaded casements, flanking a central boarded door. To the west, there is a one-storey lean-to made of painted brick from the 19th century. The east front features a boarded door with a porch. Inside the left-hand gable end, there is an exposed collar and tie-beam truss with queen struts and V-struts.
