Description
Smethcote Farm is a farmhouse that has been converted into two dwellings. It likely dates from the late 17th century and underwent remodelling in the mid to late 19th century. The building features a rendered timber frame, with parts refaced or rebuilt in painted brick, and has plain tile roofs, including a partial catslide over the outshuts to the north. It is designed in an L-shape, with a hall range and a gabled flush cross-wing to the east, along with outshuts in the angle to the north-west. The south side has raised quoins and sprocketed eaves, with a large brick ridge stack located off-centre to the east and another stack off-ridge to the north. The south front has four windows, which include 2- and 3-light mid to late 19th century wooden casements, and a small square window situated between the first and second first-floor casements from the right. There are entrances on both the east and west sides. The interior has not been inspected but is reported to contain panelling and is likely to have further interesting features.
