Description
Duncote Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid-17th century, with alterations and additions made in the late 19th century. The building is timber framed and rendered on the south side, with brick additions. It features plain tile roofs, including a cat-slide roof over an outshut to the north. The farmhouse is designed in an L-shape, comprising a hall range with a flush gabled cross-wing to the west and an outshut in the angle to the northeast. It has two storeys and an attic.
On the exterior, there is a brick end stack to the east and a central brick ridge stack on the cross-wing. A late 19th-century gabled dormer on the west side contains a two-light wooden casement window, while the south side has 20th-century roof lights. The south front features three windows with two- and three-light 20th-century metal casements. A gabled brick porch is located between the first and second windows from the left, which has a 20th-century boarded door. To the right, there is a late 19th-century one-storey service wing with a three-light 20th-century casement window at the front. The left-hand return front has two windows.
The interior has not been inspected but is reported to contain late 18th-century or early 19th-century panelled doors and a late 19th-century dog-leg staircase with an acanthus-decorated newel. The building is part of the National Trust's Attingham Park Estate Vernacular Building Survey.
