Description
Uckington Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse built of red brick with a hipped slate roof. It has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall. The building features a plinth and a dentil brick eaves cornice, with headers placed on edge. There are two brick ridge stacks located off-centre to the left and right. The façade consists of three bays, with the centre bay projecting and topped by a triangular pedimented gable. The windows are three-light segmental-headed wooden casements, and there are painted imitation blind windows on the first and second floors to the right. The central entrance is a flush-panelled half-glazed door with a three-part overlight, framed by a moulded architrave and a mid- to late 19th-century gabled lattice wooden porch.
The left-hand return front has some painted imitation blind windows, while the right-hand return front features a ground-floor glazing bar sash window to the left. At the rear, there is a one-storey service wing. Inside, the farmhouse is noted for its late 18th-century staircase with an open string, shaped brackets, and turned newels, as well as late 18th-century fireplaces and panelled doors, with the possibility of additional interesting fittings. The property is part of the National Trust, Attingham Park Estate Vernacular Building Survey.
