Description
Dunnington Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the late 18th to early 19th centuries and the 20th century. It features a timber frame with brick infill on a coursed lias plinth, as well as brick elements. The roof is covered with old tiles and has four brick ridge stacks, along with one external stack in the center of the lias, which has square brick shafts. The building is in an L-plan configuration, with the main front facing the garden. It is one storey and has an attic, displaying a two- to three-window range and a one-window gabled wing on the right.
There is an early 20th-century ribbed door and a brick porch in the re-entrant angle, which has a catslide roof that extends from the wing across the lobby, also with a catslide roof in the opposite direction. To the left, there is a second entrance featuring a six-panelled door in a moulded surround. The farmhouse has 19th-century and some 20th-century casement windows. The left section of the building is slightly higher and has a separate roof. The end wall has been rebuilt but still retains jowled posts. The wing has three closely set windows on the ground floor, which are separated by framing, while the left wall is made of brick. The front facing the road has some exposed framing throughout, with plastered infill.
Inside, there is some exposed framing and evidence of former open fireplaces. A late 18th-century or early 19th-century quarter turn staircase can be found within. Additionally, there is a mid-20th-century single-storey addition at the front facing the road.
