Description
Forest Thatch is a cottage dating from the 17th to early 18th century, with later additions and alterations. Although it is said to be timber framed, the exterior is entirely covered in whitewashed brick. The cottage features a thatched roof with brick chimneys at the center and end, and a large external fireplace with a stack on the left end. It has a two-unit plan with a low one-unit outshut at the front. The building is one storey high with an attic, which includes one swept dormer and two ground floor casement windows with leaded lights. There is a plank door with a thatched hood, and the door along with one window is set under a segmental arch, while another window has a wooden lintel. The interior has not been inspected. To the right, there is a late 19th-century addition with a tiled roof, and a 20th-century addition that projects forward.
