Description
Garford is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and rendered infill, featuring later brick additions and a brick refacing on the south-east part, topped with tiled roofs. The building has an irregular T-plan, with the main block oriented north-east to south-west and a cross-wing at the north-east end. The entrance is located on the north-west front to the right of the cross-wing, which has a lean-to on the north-east side that creates a cat-slide roof. There is a main axial stack and a gable end stack.
The farmhouse is two storeys high, with the north-west front gable end of the cross-wing on the left displaying 20th-century surface timbering. The windows are irregularly arranged, featuring 2- and 3-light windows, along with a ledged door and sidelight on the ground floor. The main block has three 2-light casement windows on the first floor, with additional 2-light windows to the left and right of the ledged door. The framing of the main block is largely intact, showing four square panels from the sill to the wall-plate. Inside, there is a cross-beamed ceiling with mutilated stops and a large open fireplace in the main central room.
