Description
The Canal Bridge, built in 1843 for the Hereford & Gloucester Canal, is a notable structure made of red brick with stone dressings and large engineering brick copings on the parapets. The bridge is constructed at a 60° angle and features dressed stone intradoses to the arch, with an internal arch made of rubbed brick. There is a stone drip-mould above the arch and a stepped drip below the parapet. The parapets have copings made of large black engineering bricks, positioned on edge, and are stamped with 'B W Blades/Maker/West Bromwich.' The parapets slope down slightly to the east on the south side and to the west on the north side, with the stops located where the arms no longer match those opposite. Low square piers are situated at the ends of the parapet.
