Description
Brinsop Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It features a timber-framed structure with painted brick infill and brick refacing on the right end bay. The cottage has a sandstone plinth and a tiled roof, with weatherboard cladding on the upper floor and the gable end of the right end bay.
The building is arranged in three framed bays that run east to west, facing south. The entrance is located left of center, and there is a stack at the west end. It is a single storey with an attic, featuring two gabled half-dormers that contain 2-light casement windows. On the ground floor, there is a 3-light casement window to the left and 2- and 3-light windows to the right of the doorway, which has a gabled canopy and a 6-panelled door.
The framing of the cottage is mostly intact, although the ground floor on the right end has been refaced. The trusses above remain complete, with three square panels extending from the sill to the wall-plate.
