Description
Stretton Court is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the late 18th or early 19th century. It features a timber frame with a sandstone plinth, part brick refacing on the south front, and brick infill. The roof is hipped and tiled. Originally designed in an L-shape, the layout has been obscured by a later addition in the angle of the wings, which faces south. The former cross-wing extends to the north at the east end. The entrance is centrally located on the south front, with a main axial stack to the left of center and a lateral stack on the cross-wing. The building is two storeys high with irregular fenestration, including four windows on the first floor that consist of 2- and 3-light casement windows. There is a similar 3-light window and a canted bay to the left, and a 2-light window to the right of the doorway, which features an open gabled porch and a ledged door. The timber framing is fairly complete, showing four square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, although only two upper panels remain on the upper floor of the south front. The cross-wing originally had a gable to the right of the south front.
