Description
The Cottage is a cottage dating from the early 17th century. It features a timber frame with colour-washed plaster infill, a thatched roof, and a central brick stack. The building has a two-unit baffle entry plan and is accompanied by a contemporary stable. It is one storey with an attic, which includes one eyebrow dormer and one full dormer. The entrance has an old plank door, and there are casement windows, mostly from the 20th century. The stable on the right has been incorporated into the cottage, with two windows added to the original doorways. The end wall shows exposed framing, and there is a small amount of exposed framing at the rear. The rear features an outshut on the right with a low-sweeping roof and a projection for a bread oven. Inside, there are winder stairs, broad chamfered ceiling beams, and exposed framing, along with two open fireplaces and a bread oven in the room on the left. The room on the right has a simply modelled face inside the fireplace, and there are several old plank doors. Additionally, there is a mid-20th century cross wing on the right with sham timber framing.
