Description

Shamley House is a house dating to the late 16th century, with extensions added in the 20th century and a refronting in the 19th century. The house is timber framed and partly underbuilt with brick. The front is rendered with a colourwashed brick dado, above which is tile hanging in a semi-circle pattern. Grey and brown brick cladding is present on the right side. A plain tiled roof is half-hipped to the right and steps up over the left hand extension, with a stack positioned at the junction of the two ranges, end stacks to the right, and a further stack with decorative stoneware pots on the rear wing. The first floor has three diamond-pane leaded casement windows, while the left hand extension features one 20th-century window. The ground floor has four similar windows, and one window is present in the left hand extension. A ribbed and studded door is located to the left of centre, and a further door is found in the left hand return front.
