Description

Apple Tree Cottage is a cottage that dates back to the 16th century, with a 17th-century extension on the left and a 19th-century wing at the rear facing the street. The building was restored in the 20th century. It features a timber frame that is exposed on the entrance front, with red brick infill, while the left side has whitewashed render cladding. The wing is made of red and blue brick and is exposed on the gable end, with cladding on the return walls. The roofs are plain tiled and step down to the right. The cottage has a T-shaped plan with a gabled wing at right angles facing the street and the entrance front at the rear. It is two storeys high and has a triple stack at the ridge junction of the two framed sections, along with a small end stack on the gabled section facing the street.

The 20th-century leaded casement windows include one three-light window on each floor to the left and one ground floor window to the right. There is a part-glazed stable-style door located in the lower section to the right, which is sheltered by a gabled porch on brick plinth walls. The left-hand return front features brick dentilled eaves and 20th-century casement windows, with two ground floor windows under cambered heads. There is also a glazed door to the right and a part-glazed door in the centre.
