Description

The Old House is a house dating from the 16th century, with later 18th-century extensions to the left. The house is timber-framed, with exposed framing on the right-hand return front and whitewashed brick infill. The front of the building is whitewashed brick, with the left-hand return front rendered and painted weatherboard. It has a wavy-edged tile roof with a half-hip to the right.

The house comprises a crosswing on the left, with a projecting gable at the left end and a quadruple ridge stack to the right of centre. The crosswing has two storeys, with 3-light casement windows on both floors, with a cambered head over each window; the ground-floor windows are larger. The right-hand side of the building has a regular front with three casement windows on the first floor and two larger 3-light windows below, all with cambered heads. A double-boarded door is situated to the right of centre, set within a brick and weatherboarded gable porch. The right-hand return front shows the timber frame and a Queen-post roof.

Inside, parts of the timber frame are visible. The extension to the left was formerly a single room and served as the Village School.
