Description

Hatchers is a house dating from the late 16th and early 17th centuries, with alterations and extensions added in the early 19th century. The central portion of the house is timber framed, with thin timbers and whitewashed brick infilling, and has a single-storey brick extension to one side. The roofs are tiled, with a hipped roof over the centre of the house.

The main two-storey block is flanked by single-storey wings, and there is a longer, narrower range extending to the rear. A central chimney stack has an oversailing top. The central portion of the front facade has three framed bays, with two casement windows on the first floor and a blocked older window in the centre. There are two angle-bay windows with arched tracery bars on either side of a central square bay casement, which originally served as the entrance, all sheltered by a continuous pentice roof extending over the ground floor. A single three-light casement window is located in each wing. A ribbed door is set within a porch recess, leading to an arched entrance on the right. Garage doors are on the right end, and a further door is present on the left-hand range.
