Description

Sundial Farmhouse is a house that originated in the 17th century and was refronted in the 18th century. The front elevation is made of ironstone ashlar, and it has a 20th-century tiled roof with stone-coped gables. The building features three partly rebuilt stone ridge and end stacks with brick shafts. It has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with a three-window range. The entrance, located to the left, has a fielded six-panel door with two glazed panels and a 20th-century opening with a keyblock head. There are two similar windows to the right and three similar windows on the first floor. Above the first floor, there is a flat band and a shallow stone parapet. At the rear, there is a gabled two-storey staircase turret.

Inside, the farmhouse includes an inglenook fireplace with a stop-chamfered bressumer, and the present kitchen features a stone fireplace with a chamfered bressumer. The interior also has stop-chamfered and chamfered beams, a closed-well staircase, and two-panelled 19th-century doors alongside 17th and 18th-century panelled doors with mouldings and blacksmith-made wrought-iron fasteners and hinges. The floors are made of stone flags. The cellar contains a two-light flat-splay stone mullioned window with iron bars, a chamfered beam, and a stone flag floor with a drainage channel. The roof construction is through-purlin.
