Description
Orchard Banks is a group of three cottages that have been converted into a house, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. The building is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble and features a steeply pitched thatched roof with ridge and end stacks that have brick shafts. Originally designed as single-unit plans, the cottages now form a three-unit layout and are single storey plus attic throughout.
On the right side, there are two entrances with plank doors, wooden frames, and wooden lintels, along with a gabled 20th-century hood. The ground floor includes four wooden casement windows, two of which have two lights and two with three lights, all set beneath wooden lintels. In the attic, there is a half-dormer with a two-light casement and an eyebrow dormer featuring a three-light metal casement within a wooden surround. A fire plaque is located on the left gable, and there are 20th-century brick buttresses on the left end and left gable. The interior has not been inspected.
