Description
Primrose Cottage is a house located on Wroxton Main Street, dating from the late 17th century but with earlier origins. It was partially rebuilt after a fire in 1666. The building is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble and features a steeply pitched thatched roof, with repointed stone ridge and end stacks. It has a three-unit plan, is two storeys high plus an attic and cellar, and has a two-window range. The entrance, which is from the rear, was added in the 20th century. The gable facing the street has renewed two-and three-light casement windows with stone flat arches, and there is a two-light stone mullioned cellar window with flat-splay mullions, hood moulds, and label stops. The right side of the cottage features a 20th-century bow window and 20th-century casements on both the ground and first floors. Inside, the cottage has chamfered beams and an inglenook fireplace with a stop-chamfered bressumer and a bread oven.
