Description

Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid to late 17th century, with later alterations. The left side features ironstone ashlar, while the right side is constructed from regularly coursed ironstone. It has a steeply pitched 20th-century tile roof with stone-coped gables, and includes stone ridge, lateral, and end stacks. The building is two storeys high plus an attic and has a four-window range. It is said to have originally had a through-passage plan. The central entrance has a partly-panelled and partly-glazed door, with a 20th-century porch. Flanking the entrance are three-light stone-mullioned windows with hood moulds and label stops. The left and right ends have 20th-century windows in the original openings of wood cross windows, with wood lintels. The first floor features a similar window arrangement. The rear left side has a raking roof, and the left end includes two- and three-light stone-mullioned windows with hood moulds and label stops, as well as small windows with stone surrounds. Wrought-iron casement fasteners are present. The rear features a projecting two-storey lateral stack on the left and a two-storey gabled rectangular staircase projection on the right. Inside, there are moulded stop-chamfered beams and stop-chamfered bressumers over inglenook fireplaces, one of which is dated 1638. The interior also includes a winder staircase and panelled and plank doors.
