Description

Stone Croft is a four-cottage dwelling, now a house, dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of regular coursed ironstone rubble, with a 20th-century tile roof, rendered brick ridge and end stacks. The building is single-storey with an attic. The front facade has a four-window arrangement. An entrance is positioned off-centre to the right, featuring a partially glazed plank door with wrought-iron hinges and a wood lintel. To the left of the entrance is a three-light wooden casement set within a stone opening, displaying remnants of a hood mould and label stop. A similar window sits to its left. To the right of the door is another three-light casement with a wood lintel. The attic contains four three-light wooden casements. The interior retains stone flag floors, stop-chamfered beams and bressumers to inglenook fireplaces, one of which is inscribed with the date 1693. A 20th-century extension to the front is not considered to be of architectural significance. The building is listed for its group value.
