Description
Springfield Lodge is a lodge built in the late 19th century, constructed from coursed squared limestone with a plain and fishscale tile roof, featuring stone ridge and end stacks. It is designed in the Tudor-Revival style. The building has a two-storey octagonal entrance bay on the left and a single-window range of single-storey plus attic on the right. The porch is made of limestone and has a gabled tiled roof with bargeboards. The entrance features a panelled door surrounded by a moulded stone frame. The octagonal section has two-light stone-mullioned windows on both the ground floor and first floor, with all windows having hood moulds and label stops. The building includes limestone quoins and an embattled parapet. The right section has a three-light stone-mullioned window in the cellar, a single-light window on the ground floor, and a gabled false dormer with bargeboard and pendant. All windows in this section also have hood moulds and label stops, along with limestone quoins and ornamental ridge tiles. Springfield Lodge is prominently located at the junction of the A4035 and the road to Compton Wynyates.
