Description

Grove End is a house formed from three cottages, dating to the late 17th century with 20th-century additions. The construction is of regular coursed ironstone and limestone rubble. It has a steeply pitched thatched roof, stone end and ridge stacks, and stone coped gables. The house is two storeys high, plus an attic.

The left-hand wing features 2-, 3- and 4-light wood-mullioned and casement windows, all with wood lintels. These include wrought-iron casement fasteners and springs, with some windows containing crown glass. The right-hand part of the house has a 3-light casement window to the ground floor, also with a wood lintel. Above the porch is a small fixed light window with a wood lintel, and to the right, a 3-light wood casement window with a wrought-iron fastener and wood lintel. A 3-light dormer window is a later 20th-century addition.

Inside, the house retains stop-chamfered beams and stop-chamfered joists. There's an inglenook fireplace with a bread oven recess and a stop-chamfered bressumer. The ground floor includes stone flags.
