BRAILES CASTLE HILL LANE SP3039 (West side) Upper Brailes 14/22 Sunnyside

House. Mid/late C17, with C20 alterations. Regular coursed ironstone rubble. Steeply pitched C20 tile roof. Brick end stacks. 2 storeys plus attic. 2-window range. Entrance to left has 4-centred arched and chamfered head with chamfered jambs. Fragments of hood mould. Plank door with strap hinges. C20 hood. Two C20 windows to right inserted in original openings. Renewed stone mullions. First floor has a 2-light stone mullioned window with renewed hood mould. Left end has a 2-light stone mullioned window with hood mould and label stops and 2 small rectangular windows with opening lights. The house is said to have been thatched and the thatch came down to shoulder height to rear. Interior: stop chamfered beams and chamfered joists, wooden winder stair, stone flag floors, fireplace with bressumer, wooden post and post hole. C20 wing to right is not of special architectural interest.
