Description

Fanthill Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the early 18th century, with some later alterations. It is constructed from regularly coursed limestone rubble and features a steeply pitched 20th-century tile roof, with stone coping on the right side and brick stacks at the ridge and ends. The building has two sections and a four-unit plan, standing two storeys high with a four-window range. The off-centre entrance on the left includes a partly-glazed plank door with wrought-iron hinges and a wooden lintel, framed by a moulded wood door-frame. To the left of the entrance, there is a two-light wood casement window and a three-light 20th-century casement window. On the right, there are two three-light 20th-century casements. The first floor features four three-light 20th-century casements, all equipped with stone sills and wooden lintels, some of which have stop chamfers. At the rear, there is a two-light stone-mullioned window with a hood mould and label stop. Attached to the left is an additional section, also built of regularly coursed limestone rubble from the 18th century, with a similarly steeply pitched 20th-century tile roof and stone coping. This section has stone quoins and stands two storeys high, with a single three-light window with a stone lintel on the ground floor. Inside, the farmhouse features a stop-chamfered bressumer and chamfered joists.
