Description

Southfield Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of squared, coursed limestone with quoins, and has coped gables and a stone slate roof. The roof is punctuated by 20th-century brick end stacks. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window front. It is arranged in an L-shape. The central area features a 20th-century glazed door with a matching hood. To the left, and three first-floor openings contain 19th-century two-light iron casements with leaded lights. To the right of the door is a three-light casement with leaded lights. All windows have wooden lintels, and a 20th-century skylight is present in the roof. A rear wing contains additional two-light casements, some dating to the 19th century, also with leaded lights and wooden lintels. A one-storey range, dating to the 19th century, is attached to the left of the main building. The interior contains a large open fireplace with a timber bressumer.
