Description
Eastgate Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, with origins dating back to the 17th century and later alterations. It is constructed of squared, coursed ironstone and features a steeply pitched roof covered with 20th-century tiles, which replaced the original thatch. The building has renewed stone ridge and end stacks and follows a 3-unit plan. It stands two storeys high, plus attics and a cellar, and has a five-window range.
The entrance, located to the right, features a square-headed doorway with a hood mould and diamond-shaped label stops, which have been renewed. On the ground floor, there is a 4-light stone mullioned window, a 4-light stone mullioned and transomed window, and three small rectangular windows. The first floor has three 3-light windows, a 2-light window, and a small rectangular window. Most of the windows are adorned with hood moulds and label stops, some of which have been renewed. The roof includes one full dormer and three gabled roof dormers.
Inside, the plan was altered in the 20th century and features a stop-chamfered beam and a winder stair.
