Description
A group of nine 17th and 18th century headstones is located along the path to the south of the priest's door at the Church of St. John the Baptist. These headstones are made of ironstone and feature bold carvings. The fourth headstone from the left is dated 1729 and commemorates Richard Anne. The fifth headstone is dated 1681, the sixth is dated 1699 and honors Robert Brown, and the seventh is dated 1698. The eighth headstone is notably carved with a panel, cherub, and skull. The ninth headstone, possibly dated 1682, is dedicated to the wife of John Hiron. The remaining three 18th century headstones do not possess special architectural interest.
