Description
Holloway House, also known as The Cottage and attached barn, is a house dating from the mid-17th century with 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of squared, coursed ironstone rubble and features a steeply pitched thatched roof. The building has a renewed stone ridge and end stacks, with brick shafts. It has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys plus attics high, with a four-window range. There are two entrances; one is off-centre to the left and has a plank door with a square head, hood moulds, and diamond-shaped label stops. The far left entrance features a 20th-century door.
On the ground floor, there is a three-light stone mullioned window and two three-light metal casements. The first floor has two three-light stone mullioned windows along with two- and three-light casements, all with hood moulds and label stops on wooden lintels. The building also has ironstone quoins. The attached barn, dating from the 18th century, is made of squared coursed ironstone and has a steeply pitched thatched roof. It features wide plank doors, a small door, wooden lintels, and a ventilation slit. The interiors have not been inspected.
