Description

Home Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to 1661, with alterations from the 18th century. It is constructed of squared coursed ironstone and coursed ironstone rubble, topped with a slate roof and features stone-coped gables. The building has two stone and brick ridge stacks, along with a stops end stack, all resting on chamfered stone bases.

The farmhouse has a three-unit plan, is three storeys high, and has a three-window range. The entrance is located off-centre to the right and features a cambered stone head with moulded chamfered jambs, along with a hood mould that has diamond-shaped label stops. The door is a six-panelled design, and to the left of the entrance is a three-light metal casement window with a wooden lintel.

On the first floor, there are three three-light metal or wood casements set in wooden frames, also with wooden lintels. The attic floor contains three-light 18th-century metal casements in wooden frames with wooden lintels, featuring lead cames and wrought-iron casement fasteners and springs. The building has stone quoins.

The datestone from 1661 is ascribed to Thomas Hicks, who was recorded as paying tax on three hearths in 1665. The interior includes an 18th-century corner cupboard with a dentilled moulded cornice in the southeast ground floor room, as well as another similar cupboard in the wall facing the road. The interior has not been inspected.
