Description

The Poplars is a house dating from the 17th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of squared coursed ironstone and features a steeply pitched slate roof. The building has ridge and end stacks with blue brick shafts set on chamfered stone bases, and a coped gable on the left side. The layout consists of a two-unit plan with an additional unit on the left.

The house is two storeys high and has a seven-window range. The entrance features a pointed head and a panelled-glazed door, flanked by 20th-century windows that have hood moulds and label stops. On the first floor, there are three 3-light metal casements, also with hood moulds and label stops. The left part of the house is two storeys high with a one-window range, built of squared coursed ironstone with a slate roof and a brick stack. It has a plank door with a stone lintel, a 20th-century window with a stone lintel, and a 3-light metal casement with a wooden lintel on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected.
