Description
Stone House is a house dating from the 17th century, with 20th-century alterations. It is built of coursed squared ironstone and has a plain tile roof with stone end stacks. The house has a two-unit plan and is two storeys high with an attic, featuring a three-window range. The ground and first floors on the right have 6-pane horned sash windows, with a stone lintel and keyblock on the ground floor and a timber lintel on the first floor. The other windows have 20th-century frames and stone lintels with keyblocks, while the ground floor window on the left has been enlarged and its sill lowered. There are a pair of 20th-century roof dormers on the left side. The gables are stone-coped with kneelers, and there is a long narrow window on the right gable end. The entrance is located at the rear in a 20th-century extension. Inside, there is a re-used possibly 15th-century moulded spine beam and an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer. The building is included for its group value.
