Description
Spring Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid to late 17th century, with later additions and alterations made in the 18th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of squared, coursed ironstone and features a steeply pitched slate roof with stone-coped gables. The building has brick ridge and end stacks and a three-unit plan, with an additional lower unit on the right.
The facade has a six-window range plus a one-window range, and it stands two storeys high with an attic. The main entrance is located to the left and features a doorway with a cambered arched stone head and a continuous hood mould, flanked by tripartite sash windows. To the right, there is a 20th-century window inserted within a stone frame that has a hood mould and label stop, alongside another tripartite sash window with a wooden lintel.
On the first floor, five sash windows have been inserted within stone-framed surrounds, three of which have wooden lintels. A small casement window features a hood mould and label stop. There are also two gabled dormers. The right part of the building has two- and three-light wooden casements on the ground floor, which also have wooden lintels, and a two-light casement in the attic. The interior has not been inspected.
