Description

Lane House is a house that dates back to the 17th century, with an 18th-century wing and alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is built of regularly coursed ironstone and features 20th-century tile roofs with gable parapets and moulded kneelers, along with brick ridge stacks. The house has a three-unit plan that has been extended to four units, and it stands two stories tall with an attic and a two-story wing, displaying a four-window range.

The main entrance, now located on the left return side, features a plank door with a wood lintel. The house has 19th-century casement windows with painted wood lintels and two 20th-century hipped roof dormers. The wing to the right is at a lower level due to the steeply sloping site and has leaded light casements with painted rough wood lintels on each floor. A plank door has been cut into a stone-mullioned window, which is topped by a thatched hood; one light of this window is glazed while the rest is obscured by a single-storey addition.

On the first floor, there is a stone-mullioned window that has had its mullions removed and replaced with a casement. The attic features two-light mullioned windows, both of which have hood moulds. The front of the house faces the lane, while the rear is irregular, mostly featuring 19th-century casements. The interior has not been inspected.
