Description

A mid-17th century farmhouse with an attached outbuilding, significantly altered in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The farmhouse is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble, with a tile roof, coped gable parapets with kneelers, and stone external and ridge stacks, the latter with 19th-century blue brick shafts. It has a T-plan layout, featuring a central projecting wing and a lower wing to the left. The main two-storey and attic section has a three-window front, while the left wing is single-storey and attic with a one-window front. The entrance is located in the re-entrant angle of the left wing, with a wide 19th-century flush-panelled door, a wood lintel, and a later tile lean-to canopy. A 19th-century casement window sits above. The central wing has two-light stone-mullioned windows and a single attic light. The return sides feature blocked mullioned windows and an external stack with two square shafts. A 19th-century door and casement window feature on the right return. The left wing incorporates a 20th-century part-glazed door and casements, alongside a recessed dormer. The rear elevation, facing the churchyard, has a five-window front with 18th-century openings on the left, containing 19th-century cross windows set within stone flat arches. A blocked fire window is also present, alongside a mix of 19th and 20th-century casements with painted wood lintels. Internally, the farmhouse has not been inspected. The attached outbuilding, at a right angle to the wing, is two-storey with three bays. The front, overlooking the farmyard, has a central doorway set in large ashlar blocks, featuring a chamfered Tudor arch with a large lintel and hood mould. Double doors are present on the left, and a plank door with a wood lintel sits above a stone platform on the first floor, alongside two old casements with wood lintels. The rear of the outbuilding is irregular. The interior of the outbuilding has not been inspected.
