Description
No. 6 Main Street is a building that consists of two cottages now combined into one house. It has a datestone from 1749, but it likely has origins from the 17th century. The structure is made of coursed ironstone rubble and features a steeply pitched thatched roof. It has three brick stacks located at the ridge and ends, and follows a three-unit plan. The left side is a single storey plus attic, while the right side has two storeys plus attic.
There are two entrances with plank doors, wood lintels, and 20th-century trellis porches. Between the doors is a single-light metal casement window with a wood lintel. The first floor on the right has a two-light casement window with a wood lintel, and there are three eyebrow dormers featuring two and three-light casements with wrought iron casement fasteners. Inside, the house includes a stop-chamfered beam and an inglenook fireplace with a stop-chamfered bressumer.
