Description

The Homestead is a building that was originally two cottages, now serving as a single house. It dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with 19th-century alterations. The structure is made of coursed ironstone rubble and features a 20th-century tile roof. There are brick ridge and end stacks set on a stone base. The building has a three-unit plan, with an additional unit on the right that was originally a single storey but now has a 19th-century upper storey.

The earliest part of the building has a three-window range, while the right side has one window. The entrance is located on the right and features a panelled and glazed door within a moulded wood frame, along with a 20th-century rustic porch. There is a blocked entrance with a wooden lintel, and the windows include a two-light, a three-light, and a four-light window, the latter two equipped with iron bars, metal casements in wood frames, and wrought-iron casement fasteners. The wood lintels are painted.

On the first floor, there are two three-light wood casements and a three-light metal casement in a wood frame with lead cames, all featuring wood lintels. The right part of the building has a three-light 19th-century metal casement on the ground floor and a late 19th or early 20th-century window above, both with wood lintels. A tie-bar is present on the front elevation to the left.

Inside, the property includes stop-chamfered beams, an inglenook fireplace with a bressumer, plank doors with strap hinges, and a disused two-storey staircase projection. There is a later staircase on the rear elevation to the right and a stud partition leading to a former pantry.
