Description

Halfway Stores and Nos 1 and 2 Sunny Side Cottages are cottages and a shop that date from the 17th century and the mid to late 18th century. The buildings feature a timber-frame structure with some sections made of flint and brick band infill, and other parts encased in brick with blue headers. The roofs are covered with old plain tiles.

The building facing the road has three bays and is two stories high, with a shop located at the road end. Behind it is a one-story and attic cottage, which is now divided into front and rear cottages, and a two-story, two-bay rear cottage. The side of the building has a blank road end bay, with a planked door in the third bay and two- and three-light windows on both floors. The eaves are dentilled, and the roof has a steep pitch, hipped at the road end and half-hipped on the other side. There is a ridge stack located above the door.

The lower part of the building has three 20th-century two-light casements and a door, along with three 19th-century two-light casements in dormers. The far part features a central 20th-century door under a flat hood, with two-light casements on each side on both floors, and the roof is hipped at the far end with a central stack. The shop front has a 20th-century double door under a flat hood, with two-light casements with segmental heads on each side, and a three-light casement above that cuts into the dentilled eaves.
