Description
Alpine Cottages Milkhouse Antique Shop is a row of cottages with a shop on the right, dating from around 1700. The building has been clad in 19th-century materials and has had 20th-century alterations. It features a timber frame with brick cladding, painted on the front, and tile-hanging on the first floor and gables at each end. The roof is plain tiled and half-hipped, with two tall brick ridge stacks and an additional stack at the left end. There are three hipped dormers. The building has two storeys and attics, with an irregular arrangement of windows: seven on the first floor and four on the ground floor. To the right, there is a wide, single-storey projecting glazed shop front with a flat roof. A boarded door is located to the left in a flat-roofed glazed weather-porch, while a central panelled door with a flat hood above and a glazed door is recessed in the centre of the shop front. Inside, a substantial frame is visible, and the roof features a queen post side-purlin structure.
