Description

Virginia House is a house dating from the 16th century, although it was extensively re-clad in the 19th century. The construction is timber-framed with a red brick ground floor and a weatherboarded first floor. The roof is tiled, hipped to the right side with a gablet. A tall brick end stack is located on the left. The house is two storeys high, with an irregular facade featuring three windows on the first floor, each with glazing bar sashes. A 19th-century, flat-roofed, octagonal bay window is present on the ground floor to the left. A large 20th-century shop extension is on the ground floor to the right, extending across into the adjacent building (which is not listed). The central entrance features a half-glazed door with a small pentice hood above.
